K. Anthony Kim, M.D., F.A.A.N.S.

Dr. Kim was born in Athens, Greece, and traveled the world as the child of a diplomat. He is fluent in Korean and attended schools in South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Nepal, and Libya.

Dr. Kim has a Bachelor of Science intensive in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the prestigious Yale University. He also did a year of a Master’s program in Musical Arts while at Yale.

Medical Education and Honors

Dr. Kim graduated Summa cum Laude from Keck-University of Southern California School of Medicine, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in 2000. Additionally, he is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) and a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS).

The Orange County Medical Association has ranked Dr. Kim as a Top Doctor and has awarded him the “Physician of Excellence” designation every year since 2013.

Neurosurgery Expertise

Dr. Kim is a neurosurgeon with a practice in Mission Viejo in Orange County. His focus is to advance spinal surgery towards higher accuracy and precision with improved patient satisfaction and outcomes. Dr. Kim has over two decades of experience and is well-versed in all forms of spinal hardware. In fact, as of 2022, he has implanted over 15,000 spinal instrumentation products.

As a renowned neurosurgeon, Dr. Kim has spoken before the Plenary Session at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the Western Neurological Society (WNS), the AANS-CNS section of Spine and Peripheral Nerve Disorders (“Spine section”), and the AANS-CNS section of Pediatric Neurosurgery, to name a few.

Dr. Kim has also published in the Journal of Neurosurgery, the Spine Journal, Neurosurgery, and Neurosurgical Focus, among other journals. And he has reviewed for Neurosurgery in the field of penetrating trauma, and for the International Society for the Advancement of Spinal Surgery (ISAAS).

MeRT Expertise

Dr. Kim seeks to advance non-invasive, non-surgical methods to help with symptoms and improve diagnosis in the new realm of neuro-physicians. To that end, since 2013, he has served as the physician liaison and Chief Medical Officer for applying non-invasive Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT) to patients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury, and Concussion at the Brain Treatment Centers in San Diego and Newport Beach. Dr. Kim has also worked with active soldiers and veterans to ease symptoms of PTSD and Depression.
